Robert Pettman

  General Notes:

Brewer according to Mee, he gave money in 1670 to ransom englishmen captured by the Turks. Perhaps his generosity earned him his interment beneath the floor of the Chancel, next to an Admiral, of St John's, Ickham Parish Church.

On his gravestone:

"Here lieth ye body of Robert PETTMAN late of this parish, brewer who left issue 5 sons and one daughter. Hee departed this life ye 8th day of June in ye yeare of our Lord 1685 aged seventy years."

• Marriage: to Joan Miles, 24 October 1640, Sturry, Kent.

• Marriage: to Margery Mary, 1645, Ickham, Kent.

Robert married Margery Mary in 1645 in Ickham, Kent. (Margery Mary was born in 1615 in Littlebourne, Kent and died in 1677 in Ickham, Kent.)
